World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades boost the value of certain numeric stats on armor, weapons and rings. Upgrades also increase bonuses such as Crit chance and damage from PvE.

For instance, a weapon with the upgrade template that ends in % will take on 3% attack damage every time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).
The cost for upgrading items increases when they reach the item's current level. The cost increases with item's level.
Components
Upgrade components are items that can be put into armor, weapons and trinkets in order to provide an extra stat boost or effect when they're used. They can be obtained by crafting, buying from vendors, trading or looting. Some upgrades have special cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can be placed in equipment that has a slot to accommodate them; the item must have been at the very least upgraded to blue level in order for the component to be used. Unlike other mods, upgrade components can only be used once; they cannot be applied multiple times or replaced with new upgrades. Infusions and Enrichments are type of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or Ascended equipment, as well in some items that aren't ascended. Infusions and Enrichments can be obtained by salvaging equipment from the ascended state or completing a mission in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.
An upgrade can be prefixed or a suffix changing the name of the equipment to the upgrade (for examplefor example "Canthan Armor Insignia' becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase the Mark Rarity or Level of an item, which lets players to create stronger versions using fewer upgrade crystals than they require to reach the same level using normal methods.
A 'boost upgrade' can alter the attack or defense properties of a weapon, or armor. These upgrades are available to be crafted from the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene, and defeats the Crazed Mechanic. They can also be dropped by enemies while upgrading other gear or by buying them in the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals per.
Each upgrade increases the chance that a higher tier version of an item will be revealed during the next reset. This gives the player some incentive to continue upgrading their gear, even if they're unsure of how much they'll increase after a future reset.
The boost upgrade may be successful or not, the process may be expensive, and there is a significant possibility that the item will be obsolete or even break if it fails; a failure to upgrade can cause the destruction of Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item. This is mitigated by the availability of cash shop items to double or even eliminate chance of failure, and some upgrades that offer an additional benefit when they are inserted into an item.
Glyphs
Glyphs can be used to enhance the Paragon Board by placing them in special sockets. Glyphs boost the power of nodes within a radius, and include any pre-existing attaches. Glyphs can be upgraded many ways, and we recommend upgrading them to 15 levels as soon as you can.
You'll often see in the endgame that placing Glyphs is the most effective method to upgrade your equipment. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded straight to level 15, and they provide significant boosts to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to climb higher nodes much faster.
Glyphs, the only upgrade component which can be removed without restriction and then replaced with no restrictions are the most commonly used. The only exception is legendary equipment, which requires a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and replace.
Each Glyph has a specific range of values that it can improve a stat by. The value is displayed when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can decide to replace it with a different Glyph of the same rank or higher rank, which will increase the overall value of the Glyph.
There are Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of the Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain gathering tools that are unlimited-use as well as through Faction Crypt raids. item upgrading has the possibility of dropping one of the numerous Glyphs, and there are some rare glyphs that can be found as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.
Once you have gotten the desired Glyphs you will require them to be placed on your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a bonus that boosts the stats of a specific set of nodes within a radius around the Glyph. This will either be +40 for one of your primary stats, or +25 for two of your secondary stats based on the Glyph.
Glyphs will increase the number of nodes connected to them, so it is recommended to place Glyphs in strategic locations on the Graph. This will maximize the impact. Druids for instance should position their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They might be able to place them near their critical damage nodes.
Leveling
The system of upgrading items lets players increase the effectiveness of specific items by putting upgraded components in them. This is also known as "upping". Each upgradeable item is assigned a level that determines the final statistics. Upgraded items can be leveled until they reach a maximum level of 385 ilvl. Each item level requires various components, and the cost of upgrading increase with each level.
Certain upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient can be obtained by the completion of Upgrade Recipes. These recipes are available in the upgrade tab of a crafting table or obtained from NPCs. Each completed Upgrade Recipe yields some Technology Points. These points can be used for leveling up an item. Once enough points are earned you will be able to claim your upgrade and receive its additional bonuses.
When the player upgrades an item it is replaced by a new item of the same type. This means that the same armor piece will become an weapon or shield once upgraded. The new item also comes with its own set of bonuses. This could be a disadvantage, as the item can increase in price even if you don't need it.
If the player has enough tokens they can roll item upgrades. The item will be replaced by the same item, but it is based on a level 1 base and completely different bonuses. This can be beneficial, but should not be repeated often since it can be a waste of resources.
Certain upgrades can be rerolled multiple times, increasing their value and allows the player to modify their equipment. An excellent example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an advantage when a player repeatedly enters and leaves the water (or is able to swim like a dolphin). This item can be upgraded many times, increasing the maximum roll every time by 10 increments. This item is extremely important in PvP. A properly rolled version could be worth as much as 50x the value of the unupgraded counterpart.
Requirements
The item upgrader lets players increase the level of their equippable equipment (armor weapons, weapons, and trinkets) above ilvl385 by presenting the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces increase its base defense and weapon upgrades items increase the damage they deal and also increase their strength and dexterity.
All items are upgradeable up to five times except for hero gear, which can be upgraded eight times. Every time you upgrade a piece of equipment, it has a chance of failing. The probability of failure increases as you move beyond the maximum number. Failures can cause the item to return to its original state which means that the player has to pay for more resources than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum amount.
If an item isn't upgraded, the experience bar in the bar for growth will be reset to zero. In addition, the item will lose any bonus it earned such as crit chance and attack damage, and all other effects that are associated with that effect (for instance, a higher healing over time or speed of reload). The player is able to use their weapon or armor even after the failure.
When an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from lowest to highest. This means that if a weapon gains a crit chance increase it will be applied before any attack damage increases. A new attribute known as Slots has been added to the item's definition and the value is recomputed each time an upgrade is made.
The amount of resources required to upgrade an item are based on its rarity rating and upgrade slot count. The cost of upgrading equipment that is not premium is equal to the value of the base item. For example, a common item might have five upgrades for a price of. 25,600 Technology Points and a 4x Quality Improvement Chance--whereas hero quality items will have a much lower cost for each additional upgrade.
Premium items may have different upgrade requirements from standard gear. For instance they may require less sowels, however they may require more minerals and orons. However, players will have to visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they want to upgrade. Each equipment upgrade requires different amounts of the ingredients for upgrading, in addition to the costs that are listed above.
